Nature Poets to Study

Avocet is devoted to publishing Imagist Nature Poetry -- poetry that depicts meaning through the use of precise visual images. For a complete description of Imagist Poetry, please read the excerpt from Amy Lowell's On Imagism, located on the Modern American Poetry website. An excellent example of Imagist Poetry is Ezra Pound's short poem, In a Station of the Metro:

                    The apparition of these faces in the crowd;
                    petals on a wet, black bough.
